Krystal Dawn graduated with a B.A. from the prestigious USC film production program in Southern California, was the recipient of the USC merit scholarship twice and recently chosen as USC’s 2021 junior thesis director. After arriving to the west coast by way of Michigan, she made waves with her unique storytelling style and fresh small-town perspective, scoring in the top 20% of Academy Nicholl Fellowship for her full-length screenplay “Bill Landaus”, right away. She was also a finalist in OCCentric Playwrights Competition and winner of Fullerton College Playwriting Festival for the one act play version of “Bill Landaus”. Her other accolades include, selected writer for Issa Rae’s FYPP sponsored by CreativeColor, her writing on Big Indie Pitch winner and UNITY grant recipient “Our America '' (a Narrative VR experience for Oculus), and a BAFTA nomination for this VR experience. She enjoys all aspects of storytelling from development, to writing , to directing, and hopes to change the way the world views underrepresented groups through visual mediums.
